things that brew ...

today i went to a yoga class that was supposed to be 1 hr and 15 minutes, but ended up lasting a full 1 hr and 45 minutes.   it was hot, the room was packed and the teacher was relentless.  the most surprising part was that i was one of the youngest people in class.  there were women in their 50s and 60s doing handstands and this older gentleman, brad, actually coerced me into attempting one.  my very first (well, almost) handstand.

so on the walk from the gym to my car, i already decided that a treat was in order.   i'm not even drinking caffeine anymore, but a decaf latte was calling my name.  instead of my usual starbucks run, i opted for the uber-hip intelligentsia.  we have several in different neighborhoods throughout l.a., but i never stopped.  i suppose i thought i just wasn't that much of a coffee geek to really care.

umm ... i was wrong.  i have to admit when i first walked in and saw the line of ten people moving SLOWLY before me - and the hip baristas taking their jobs way too seriously, i almost walked out.  i kept reminding myself, "jessica just relax. wait your turn. it will be worth it."  i am so glad i did!  it had to be one of the most delicious lattes i have had in a very long time.  it was frothy and foamy and oh, so beautiful!   it reminded me of when we honeymooned in new zealand.  they have a coffee drink there - a flat white - which is basically a cross between a cappuccino and a latte - just the right amount of foam.  amazing.

if you get a chance this week, treat yourself to a little something special.  i promise you won't regret it.
